Resilience is the powerful capacity to adapt, bounce back, and recover from life's difficulties. While it doesn't always come naturally, resilience can absolutely be taught. By equipping our children with the right mental and physical tools, we can shield their bodies and minds from the negative impacts of chronic stress—improving their well-being now and for the rest of their lives.
What is the Yoga, Mindfulness, and Meditation Toolbox?
It is a curated framework featuring 12 specific areas of well-being. Each section is designed to help children process their emotions, restore internal balance, and build lasting emotional strength.
How to Use the Toolbox: A Quick Guide for Parents
Whether you are navigating a sudden tantrum, school anxiety, or bedtime restlessness, follow these simple steps to help your child find their center:
1. The Reset Breath
Before doing anything else, hit the pause button. If your child is feeling stressed or anxious, have them close their eyes and take:
3 slow, long, deep inhales
3 slow, long, deep exhales
2. Check In
Ask them a simple, grounding question: “How do you feel right now?” ### 3. Open the Toolbox
Open the Yoga, Mindfulness, and Meditation Toolbox and locate the section that best matches their current emotional state.
4. Select a Practice Card
Pick one or two cards from that section and follow the directions on the card. Always remember: Take one more deep, mindful breath together before beginning the activity!
For Older Children: Teens and tweens can often identify their own emotions. They can head directly to the matching section, select a card, and practice independently.
For Younger Children: Toddlers and young children will thrive with a parent or caregiver gently guiding them through the steps.
