Getting Started
Before you arrive
Eat Light
We recommend eating a light meal or snack 1–2 hours before class. Practicing on a very full stomach can feel uncomfortable and may impact your ability to move and breathe comfortably.
Hydrate
Be sure to drink plenty of water throughout the day so you arrive well-hydrated and ready for your practice.
Avoid Strong Scents
Out of consideration for those with sensitivities, we kindly ask that you avoid wearing strong perfumes, colognes, or heavily scented products to the studio.
When you arrive
Arrive Early
Please plan to arrive 10–15 minutes before class begins to check in, settle into the space, and set up your mat. Arriving early helps classes begin on time and supports a calm, uninterrupted environment for everyone.
Silence Your Devices
To help maintain a peaceful and distraction-free atmosphere, please silence or turn off all phones and electronic devices before class begins.
Communicate with Your Teacher
If you have any injuries, medical conditions, recent surgeries, pregnancies, or concerns, please let your teacher know before class. This allows them to offer appropriate modifications and support throughout your practice.
During class
Listen to Your Body
Honor your body and practice at a pace that feels supportive for you. Rest, take breaks, or modify poses whenever needed — your practice is personal, and every body is different.
Respect the Space
Please help us maintain a calm and focused environment by keeping conversations to a minimum during class. This allows everyone to remain grounded and present in their practice.
Stay Present
Allow your attention to return to your breath and the present moment throughout class. Mindful awareness is an important part of yoga and can deepen both the physical and mental benefits of your practice.
After class
Clean Your Space
If you borrowed props or a mat, please wipe them down after class and return them to their designated areas.
Reflect & Hydrate
Take a few quiet moments after class to notice how you feel and allow your practice to settle in. Be sure to drink water and rehydrate your body.
Connect with Community
We warmly encourage connection and community at Peaceful Yoga. Feel free to introduce yourself, connect with fellow students, or chat with your teacher after class.
Additional Tips
-
A regular yoga practice can help support strength, mobility, balance, and overall well-being over time. Consistency often leads to the most meaningful growth, both on and off the mat.
-
Each class offers a new opportunity to learn, explore, and reconnect with yourself. Arriving with curiosity and openness can deepen your experience.
-
Yoga is a personal and evolving practice. Honor where you are today, give yourself grace, and allow the process to unfold naturally.
Peaceful Yoga’s Community Guidelines
Finally, please read our studio’s shared agreements on how we keep our environment and community peaceful. These understandings outline the community etiquette we expect all students, visitors, and teachers to uphold.
Our studio is a sacred space, and we believe these principles help to create an inclusive, judgment-free environment for everyone. By following these guidelines, we can ensure a beneficial practice for all and build a beautiful, supportive community.
